Saoirse Ronan

Finally finished!
So, as I mentioned in my WIP, this is the first completely colored-pencil drawing I've done. It's of the young up-and-coming actress, Saoirse Ronan (who I first heard about when she was cast in Peter Jackson's 'Lovely Bones' and then was excited to see in 'Atonement' ).

The reference picture was taken from a photo shoot with photographer Ringo H.W. Chiu and for some reason it just captured me. That being said, I don't think I managed to capture the feeling of the original photo.

I am definitely excited to continue doing more colored pencil work as I greatly enjoyed working on this piece and have already begun to dabble on other ideas. I certainly have a long way to go before I'm at all competent with the medium, but it certainly can be good fun!

So anyway, made using Prismacolors on 11x14" pastel paper. I started off keeping track of the hours but as the number of distractions elevated, it got harder to keep the time. Probably about 50+ hours though...I'm not as fast as most people -_-

(P.S. I thought it was fun using 'salmon pink' in this...you know, since her character in Lovely Bones is Susie *Salmon*...ahem...)
